8000 settlers on a territory populated with more than a million Palestinian; 40 000 soldiers to control their departure, 8000 journalists and photographers to cover the "event" : the utterd figures, that’s the first thing that stroke me when in Gaza. Everything seems unreal, out-of-proportion : a tremendous communication operation, a huge mediatic and politc circus set up as a big Hollywood production. I wanted to show the dramatic aspects of this event where, for example, young soldiers-almost shy- were walking in the middle of screams and unceasing tears of the colons who were brandishing their kids shouting " See what you’ve done to our people again!" I wish to photograph feelings staged to the caricature.
