3 décembre 1984, Bhopal, INDE. La plus grosse catastrophe industrielle a ce jour. L’usine de pesticides Union Carbide (racheté par Dow Chemical), explose. Elle dégage un nuage toxique dans l’atmosphère de la ville, vers minuit. Première nuit: 8 000 morts. Total depuis 25 ans: environ 25 000 morts. Son PDG de l’époque, Warren Anderson, est accusé d’homicides pour cette catastrophe et déclaré fugitif. Il n’a jamais été jugé.
December 3, 1984, Bhopal, INDIA. The biggest industrial disaster on earth to this day. The Union Carbide factory of pesticides (bought by Dow Chemical), explodes, releasing a toxic cloud into the atmosphere around midnight. Over the course of the first night 8 000 people died. The total number of deaths 25 years later has reached 25 000. Warren Anderson, the American CEO at the time, has been accused of manslaughter yet has never been put on trial.
