Early 1980’s. José Nicolas meets Bernard Kouchner, who had just created “Médecins du Monde”. This decisive encounter, led him to tackle numerous conflicts, as Bernard Kouchner was active everywhere, in Lebanon, Kurdistan, Afghanistan or even in the South China Sea. For six years, José Nicolas relentlessly took pictures of the activity of “Médecins du Monde”. Today, he offers a deep insight into his photographic archives and encourages his brother-in-arm to comment them, as this era of activism is also the era of a new way of seeing humanitarian activism, whose Bernard Kouchner is the biggest ambassador.
