REFUGE

This post is also available in: French

the “Refuge” exhibition tackles exile and migration issues. Bruno Fert associates the photographs of the migrant’s housing in Europe to their testimony, and in certain instances links them to their portraits. The photographs of these landscapes, crossed by these men and women, pace his work produced in France, Italie, Greece and Germany on twelve sites in camps, campsites or migrant housings. Bruno Fert shared and lived the routine of these men and women who allowed and let him in their tents, huts or containers. He immortalized these private and ephemeral spaces, which disappeared, for the most part, during the dismantling of the Calais Jungle. These photographs reveal the man’s surprising ability, whether nomadic or sedentary, to inhabit a place, and also put a light on a significant chapter of these unique lives.
