Raymond Depardon a suivi sur une dizaine d’années, au tournant du siècle, des paysans vivant isolés en moyenne montagne, dans le Massif Central et notamment les Cévennes. De cette exploration intimiste d’un monde en voie de disparition, il a tiré une trilogie documentaire pour le cinéma, et un livre, La terre des paysans, paru en 2008. L’exposition "Paysans" est une sélection d’images réalisées dans le cadre de ce travail, certaines étant publiées dans le livre La Terre des Paysans, d’autres restant inédites.
Il s’agit de 40 photographies noir et blanc et couleur inédites, peinture intimiste du milieu rural, et notamment des paysans des Cévennes.PEASANTSAt the turn of the century, Raymond Depardon followed over a decade farmers living isolated in the highlands of France, in the Massif Central and especially in the Cévennes. It consists of 40 black and white and color unpublished photographs, intimate rural paintings, representing, in particular, the peasants of the Cevennes.
