ICÔNES DE MAI 68

Les images ont une histoire

This post is also available in: French

Because it is the fiftieth anniversary, the next exhibition at the BNF (France national library) focuses on the events of Mccay 68, interrogating our visual memory. What are the images that have become icons and why? What are those images – and those “great” photographers – who, every year, or whenever the event is mentioned, come back to the spotlight? The exhibition answers this tricky question by mixing photographies and documents that give rythme to the spectator’s viewing. A section of the exhibition also pays tribute to some more confidential initiatives… Like the “30×40” photographers (see Polka #41, on the newsstands). Ranging from Gilles Caron to Jean-Pierre Rey as well as color photographies by Janine Niépce, Bruno Barbey or Claude Dityvon: a must-see exhibition.
