In Central African Republic as in most countries of Central Africa, the Aka Pygmies are despised and mistreated by the majority of other peoples with whom they try to coexist. They was gradually driven out of the rainforest in which they lived for millennia by deforestation. Many fail on the roadside in unsanitary camps. Under the guise of helping them, Christian and muslim preachers try to convert them to Monotheism. Pygmies are in this region the last people still animist. Ezengué, the spirit of the forest was their only belief. Nationwide, Nationwide, there are a strong struggle between the missionaries to converting the last free spirits of the forest.
