This essay is dedicated to portray the life of steelworkers in Hungary’s once legendary steel factory, Diósgyõr. Steelworkers used to be a prominent and valued social group of the of the socialist era. Nevertheless, since the change of political system fifteen years ago they have gradually became marginalised, most of them loosing their jobs. this essay attempts to explore the life of those who have managed to stay in the industry.
