Pictures of Israel/Palestine often show violence and terror. I sought other images, of music and dance and the part they play in everyday life. The pictures tell a subtle story of different worlds, caught in a mutual conflict but equally in intense internal differences. The way the two sides seek ‘relaxation’ is sometimes surprisingly similar. The little Palestinian ballerinas are indistinguishable from the ballerinas on the other side of the dividing wall. But just as often it is impossible not to see the difference. When you see four scantily clad ladies practising dance steps in the sand, you don’t immediately think of the beach at Gaza.
