Sheroes Hangout (est. 2014), in Agra (India), is the first café managed by acid attacks survivors. Widespread on the Subcontinent, this form of violence is perpetrated by attackers from any culture or religion. Reasons can be various like rejection of a marriage proposal or a family dispute. Sheroes Hangout is an initiative aiming at helping the survivors to remain independent and achieve their dreams, which otherwise would not be possible in a society where being an independent woman is a challenge.
