Kibera is the most heavily-populated slum in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital. Before my departure, thanks to the peoples with whom I had exchanges some e-mails or phone calls, I wanted to focus on the relationships between the different ethnic groups, that were the cause of the riots after the elections in December 2007 and January 2008. At first i was shocked by the extent of the problems caused by more than 1,5 million of people living in an area of 2,5km². I was then struck by the fact that the problems could be either be the causes or the consequences of the situation, issues such as the educational system, the ethnic rivalries, finding food, finding somewhere to live, the importance of local and religious beliefs. This work tries to present a big picture in order to show the interaction between the different problems and their importants.
