Going into psychological institutions and attempting to understand the lives of patients.  Not an easy thing to do, especially in Togo where the cultural gap between the photographer and African patients is large.  Karl Blanchet has tried to accurately and sincerely capture his meetings with those who live in this strange space where time seems to stop.  He has published a book in collaboration with the author Franck Pavloff called “Un sommeil de pagne.”
