The poorest areas of Tacna, a town on the border between Peru and Chile. Savage urbanisation, misery, drugs, prostitution… Children are the main victims here – orphaned, addicted to drugs, mistreated, abandoned – and are the first to be forgotten. Some Peruvians like Fermin Castillo and his wife have been fighting for more than 15 years to give these children a roof over their heads. They too do not own much yet have managed to build a home for them, El Buen Samaritano ; testament to their incredible determination. We passed a month there, seven young people between 19 and 20, to help the centre. The project took one year to prepare. We would never have been able to imagine the richness of the experience: the meetings, every road bringing new discoveries, the happiness of a child thanking you… The exhibition is born from this double motivation: the desire to record and therefore prolong the action.
