"Tout est normal", selon les dépêches. Pas de faits majeurs sur le terrain, excepté Gaza devenue zone interdite, camp de prisonniers géant où journalistes, diplomates et humanitaires doivent mendier l’impossible laisser-passer à la "seule démocratie du Proche-Orient"… Et en Cisjordanie? "Il ne se passe pas grand-chose", me disent les chefs de service de grandes agences de presse à Jérusalem. Dès les premiers kilomètres je revois le mur qui grandit, la Palestine qui étouffe, les vies morcelées des gens qui vivent "de l’autre côté", le béton qui dévore les champs d’oliviers, les soldats partout, les check-points, caméras, barrages, colonies, drapeaux. Rien n’est normal en Palestine. Nous sommes devenus trop aveugles, trop habitués.

No major events on the field except Gaza has become a prohibited area, a giant prisoners camp where journalists, diplomats, and humanitarian people need to beg for the unobtainable permit allowed in the «only Middle-East’s democracy»… What about the West Bank? «Not much», told me the managers of major news agencies in Jerusalem. From the start, I see the wall growing, Palestine that suffocates the broken lives of people living «on the other side», which devours concrete fields of olive trees, soldiers everywhere, check points, cameras, roadblocks, settlements, flags. Nothing is normal in Palestine. Nothing is normal in Palestine. We became too blind, too used to it.
