LUBONDO Gosette

This post is also available in: French

Born in 1993 in Kinshasa (the Democratic Republic of the Congo) where she lives and works, photographer Gosette Lubondo questions the relationship to History, to collective memory, to inscription and to erasure.

Published on the occasion of the artist’s first solo exhibition, this book features the works produced between 2013 and 2016, in particular her two series Imaginary Trip I and Imaginary Trip II. Developed by Gosette Lubondo since 2016, the concept of “imaginary trip” involves using abandoned areas left to nature to produce scenes and reconstructions. The purpose of these photographs is not just to keep the memory of these places alive, but to shed new light on their past and explore their meaning in today’s societal context.
