This Italian artist based in Paris is a documentary photographer specializing in human rights issues. Her recent work focused on migration, human trafficking and gender issues, placing photography at the heart of critical social and political issues. She has presented several exhibitions in Asia, Europe and North America. Her work was supported by the Magnum Emergengy Fund as well as by the CNAP and the Open Society Foundations. Several books have been published: Pipeline (Schilt Publishing, 2014); Maktoub (Cibele Edizioni, 2017) and Paris Goutte d’Or (Loco Editions, 2018). During the Magic Barbès, there will be an exhibition and meeting around her work ”Paris Goutte d’Or”.

”The Goutte d’Or is surprising and overflowing at any time of day or night. The challenge was to find the right distance, the way to tell a place which was my home and the subject of photographic research at the same time. With its 23,000 inhabitants concentrated in one square kilometer, the Goutte d’Or is energy and vibrations. Of course, there is also a complexity that exists and cannot be denied naively. I wanted to highlight, with images, the richness and mix of languages, cultures, traditions giving life to a unique ”hybrid”.
