– Los zapatistas no están solos – Chiapas – México.
Desde la insurrección del 1 de Enero de 1994, y pese a una situación de guerra, los zapatistas han seguido avanzando en la lucha por la dignidad, la democracia, la libertad y la justicia. La recuperación de tierras ha sido la forma más eficaz para mejorar las condiciones de vida y obtener un territorio para desarrollar su autonomía, en particular en las áreas de Salud y Educación. Con la creación de los Caracoles (Regiones organizativas de las comunidades autónomas zapatistas) en Agosto de 2003, el EZLN (Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional) se retiró de la administración de la zona zapatista, en beneficio de las Juntas de Buen Gobierno (JBG). Delegados civiles transversales, colectivos, rotativos y révocables, desinados a evitar los actos de corrupción, intolerancia, arbitrariedades, injusticia y desviación del principio zapatista de “mandar obedeciendo”. En territorio zapatista, el pueblo manda y el gobierno obedece. Ante esta situación, el Estado mexicano trató de suprimir el proceso de autonomía con la intervención del ejército y de grupos paramilitares. Es en este contexto de represión que La Caravana Internacional de Observación y Solidaridad con las comunidades zapatistas ha visitado los Caracoles de La Realidad, La Garrucha, Morelia y Oventik, desde el 30 de Julio hasta el 9 de Agosto 2008, declarando: « No están solos – los zapatistas no están solos ». Es así como 300 personas, procedentes de Grecia, Italia, España, Francia, EE.UU. y México, encontraron los zapatistas en su territorio y en su realidad. Esta caravana ha podido recopilar historias de los diversos abusos del ejército y grupos paramilitares, discutir del funcionamiento de los sistemas autónomos de salud y educación, la comprensión del ”mandar obedeciendo”… A traves de su presencia, los ”caravanistas” han querido mostrar el rostro de la solidaridad e indicar a los diferentes gobiernos mejicanos que los zapatistas no están solos. Su lucha por hacer posible un mundo plural, es nuestra lucha. « NO ESTAN SOLOS »-
The Zapatistas are not alone – Chiapas, Mexico

Since the uprising of 1st January 1994 and despite a war situation, the Zapatistas have not ceased to advance with their struggle for dignity, democracy, freedom and justice. The land reclamation has been the most effective way to improve living conditions and obtain territories to develop their autonomy, particularly in the health and education fields. With the creation of the Caracoles (The regional organization of the Zapatistas autonomous communities) on august 9th 2003, the EZLN (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) withdrew from the Zapatistas administration area for the benefit of the Juntas de Buen Gobierno (The council of good government): an horizontal organization with one to three civilian mediators who are revocable, and intended to prevent acts of corruption, intolerance, injustice and deviation from the Zapatista principle of "obeying". In the Zapatista territory people have the power and the government obeys. Faced to this situation the Mexican state tries to stop this process of autonomy with army and paramilitary groups actions. It is in this context of repression that the International Observation and Solidarity Caravan, together with the Zapatista communities, went visiting the Caracol of La Realidad, Morelia and La Garrucha Oventik from 30th July until 09th August 2008 and finally declared what follows: “No estan solos – the Zapatistas are not alone”. 300 people coming from Greece, Italy, Spain, France, USA and Mexico have met the Zapatistas in their territory, in their every day life. This Caravan has been collecting stories of various abuses made by army and paramilitary groups and was also the place for discussions over the operations of the autonomous health and educational systems and the understanding of the law  “command by obeying”… With their presence the “Caravanistes” wanted to depict solidarity and show to the Mexican governments that the Zapatistas are not alone. Their struggle to obtain a pluralistic world is our fight too.
