This exhibition consists of about 30 photographs of Sebastião Salgado and makes part of the program of the “En Droits !” season commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed at the Palais de Chaillot on December 10, 1948.

In the context of this exhibition, the photographs of Sebastião Salgado are illustrations to various articles of the Declaration like the asylum right, the freedom of thought, conscience and religion, the right to work and many others. These articles are a mirror of the humanistic values that are brought by the Museum since its creation in 1937 and illustrated by the photographer looking back on his heritage.

Discover or rediscover the photographs taken throughout his 40-year career in about 20 countries. 30 photographs created in 20 countries: Afghanistan, Angola, Algeria, Bosnia, Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, Philippines, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan and Tanzania.

These 30 images are 30 moving stories embracing the necessity to defend, every day, the rights set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, no matter what is the region in question, and emphasizing the universal scope of this text.

“I do not want my photographs please because of their light or their palette of tones. I want them inform and provoke debates.” Sebastião Salgado
